News: Last night at a campaign fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, President Obama took the stage, crooning a line from Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” during his speech. After noticing soul crooner Rev. Al Green in the audience, Obama started, “I… I’m so in love with you,” showing that, while not quite up to Green’s level, our President definitely has some chops, particularly in the falsetto range. Let’s Try To Get This To #1 So More Of Our Stories Will Hit The Big Screen News: “Patriotic,” “jingoistic,” “old-fashioned,” “corny” and “inspirational for teenage boys.” Those are the words of George Lucas, the executive producer of “Red Tails,” describing his whiz-bang action film about African-American fighter pilots in World War II on “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart.” Mr. Lucas financed the $58 million movie, which the major studios didn’t want to touch because of the box office limitations of its mostly African-American cast. Read more here and see slide show here.
 
Rest In Peace News: Etta James, whose assertive, earthy voice lit up such hits as “The Wallflower,” “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” and the wedding favorite “At Last,” has died, according to her longtime friend and manager, Lupe De Leon. She was 73. She died from complications from leukemia with her husband, Artis Mills, and her sons by her side, De Leon said. Read more here.

If only he made the ballot. In what Joe Scarborough called “absolutely disturbing” but true, Colbert outranks the established GOP presidential candidates in a national Public Policy Polling on favorable opinion, launching his “candidacy” nationwide.
