The Evolution of WeeSeeYou to Pragmatic Obots Unite!

Okay fam, WEE mysteriously disappeared for almost a week last week and you all want to know what happened. The truth is, we were left “homeless” just like you were and had to find a new home. Hopefully this post will (put this matter to rest) give some background of who we are, how we came to be, who we were and what we are heading for the future.


Back in 2008, Miranda, Sepia, Alex, CarolinaGirl, Webb, some others as well as myself (Pbomb) used to post on a well-known blog named Jack and Jill Politics. As a group we were all supportive of then Candidate Barack Obama for President and we all made that known. Unfortunately, the atmosphere at JJP changed and we noticed it. After President Obama was elected, it got worse. There was a larger influx of trolls and there were things that were said that as a group we fundamentally called out. So Webb and others, decided to break away from JJP and start up the site WeeSeeYou. I was asked to be a blogger, as well as Miranda, Sepia, Alex and CarolinaGirl. The mission of the blog was to be an unbossed and unbought place for supporters of the President. Like any newbie blog, we had our ups and downs, the original group of trustees we started with dwindled down and guest bloggers came and went.


No matter what happened, a major part of our mission was always being pragmatic and unapologetic supporters of America’s first African-American president. This is a badge of honor we carry with pride.

The last two years were wonderful. We all worked hard to keep the site going and each one of us pitched in when we could. We were able to build a community that welcomed unapologetic supporters of this wonderful, intelligent, hard-working and pragmatic president. Over the last 6 months things started to change internally when Webb, the main moderator of the site, started to take a different path from the rest of the group.

He started questioning the President’s leadership, attacking PBO’s choice of Elena Kagan as a Supreme Court Justice. Our position of criticizing the CBC’s back-stabbing tactics was attacked and he started to question the dedication of guest bloggers (who called him out), as well as the work of others(myself included) to the blog. He stopped responding to emails, and began to become belligerent towards fellow trustees on the site by lobbing personal insults.

He didn’t like the crosspost Miranda published from Tom, who spoke on the parallels between black leadership, MLK and President Obama.

The final straw was a huge disagreement concerning the lack of work Maxine Waters had done for unemployed blacks. Several commenters and the WSY trustees called him out on his responses. Afterwards, he closed down our Twitter page that night and then closed the site the next morning, without letting any of us know. He took his ball and went home because his ego was hurt. He didn’t let us know that he was shutting down anything. Please feel free to read some of the last comments he made before shutting down the site to get a clearer picture:

I didn’t do a poll, but Gallup did…26% are in favor of PBO’s economic strategies…go figure.
The people wanted PBO to fight for them, but PBO didn’t trust the People to have his back. If PBO doesn’t trust that the people will have his back, then why should the American people trust that PBO will have their back???? IT IS A FAIR QUESTION. IT IS A QUESTION THAT THE REPUBLICAN NOMINEE will ask 8 months from now.


PBO’s TEAM didn’t have the wherewhithal to ENGAGE the PEOPLE to EFFECTIVELY have the back of this President??? They FAILED Him.


I have little patience for WEAK ASS KNEEGROWS who want to kiss the assess of SIX-FIGURE COMPENSATED WEAKLINGS such as Axelrod/Plouffe/Messina who can’t figure out an effective strategy to ENERGIZE DEMOCRATS while SIMULTANEOUSLY inspiring the American Electorate.

I watched MeetThePress tonight (I was busy this morning), Gibbs was spouting, “The Congress did this! The Congress did that!”


Hiding behind the Congress is a “LOSING” strategy. Hiding behind the “CBC” is a LOSING strategy. If someone tells me that they want to be “above” politics, then they should be striving to be a part of the Judicial Branch. Be a judge.

In the presidency, people want a LEADER, not a JUDGE.

The Judicial Branch was never designed to lead the US. The Legislative Branch was designed to make laws, not enforce them. The Executive Branch was designed to LEAD, Enforce and Execute the laws. That’s why the Articles of Confederation were scrapped…Because the USA needed a CHIEF Executive to LEAD IT.

I agree; there is a vacuum of leadership that needs to be filled.

I love the “fighting spirit” of the WSY Fam.


I’ve been accused of theatrics, but there’s nothing more theatrical (or hypocritical) than watching people who clearly have a “fighting spirit,” so easily contradict themselves in the face of adversity.


Where is your “Pragmatism?” Where is your “Spirit of Compromise?” Oh, it only applies to white independents in Iowa, not homeless blacks in Detroit.


GET THAT DUMB SHYT THE FUCK OUT OF MY FACE.


You applaud a compromise with the Tea Party but when Maxine Waters holds a “job fair” for unemployed AAs in Atlanta, you take offense???????????????????


YES, as far as I’m concerned, YOU ARE FUCKED UP BEYOND RECOGNITION.

Furthermore, JJP might be a better spot for you too. Since you like carrying water for white people like Plouffe and Axelrod, gone ahead an carry water for Mistress Jane too…if that’s what you want to do.

So now, here we were without a home for the first time in two years. All of our hard work and energy apparently washed down the drain. With no further recourse (as we have yet to hear from Webb) the remaining trustees (PBomb, Miranda, Alexander2, Sepia and Carolinagirl) got together and created this site that I am proud of. WeeSeeYou was the brain child of Webb. He created the site and invited us in as trustees (each with different responsibilities and one of his main responsibilities was upkeep of the site). Yes, WSY was a site that started to gain attention across the blogosphere and even recognition from Rev. Al Sharpton (although it’s great that he has read our site). All of that was great, but ultimately that’s not why we are here.

We are now part of a network of Pro-Obama blogs, some who (by the way) have “Obama” in the title. We were not in this for “great branding” or “snazzy titles”. Neither were most of you when you came on board. This is a haven among several places for President Obama supporters among the black political blogosphere. You are free to discuss anything about black news and entertainment, same as before.



We don’t know what the future holds for the old WSY moniker. As of today the site is still in “maintenance mode” which means it isn’t gone. In about a month, we shall see what will become of our old home, but now we must move on. It was hard for us at first, but we knew this was coming. Pragmatic Obots Unite trustees are made up of some wonderfully talented professionals in the real world and we are looking forward to what the future has in store for us. There will be constant small tweaks and changes to the site over the next several months and we hope you all will continue to be patient and sit back to enjoy the ride.
