Today’s featured artist behind-the-scenes, is a multiple award winning designer of the scenes himself.
Patrice Andrew Davidson is one of the most sought after scenic designers for theatrical and stage performances around the country. His company, Davidson Designs, LLC has designed some of the most remarkable sets on Broadway as well as concerts, national stage play tours and film.
Some of his favorite theatrical productions include Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Two Trains Running, The Wiz, Cloud 9, Freeda People’s, The River Niger, Livin Fat, Levee James, A Few Good Men, Havin Our Say.
The South American Native, whose gift of art was realized at the age of four and led him to a specialized High School for the Arts in New York City, attended New York Institute Technology and graduated with a degree in Interior Design Architecture.
His talents have led to accolades throughout the industry including being a 3-time winner of the National Black Theatre Festival’s Outstanding Achievement in Scenic Design, 2-time winner of the Audelco Award for Set Design, and a winner of the Black Theater Alliance Award for Set Design.
