Fellow P.O.U. trustee, Miranda, breaks it down like a fraction:
I think what people are sick of, is someone like Jamal Bryant, or any pastor or person for that matter, being naive enough to fall for this okeydoke. I know its too much to ask that those that have a microphone put in front of their face be more astute, but its irritating nonetheless. I would like for the black pastors that are asked about SSM to answer like this:
“Where was your curiosity about my position when it came to health care reform, the foreclosure crisis, sub-prime lending theft, my views on contraception for women in health care plans (oh, only the Catholic bishops get a say?), etc.? If you didn’t need my opinion and thoughts on those issues, why do you need it now?
See because we just took up a collection for Keisha and Jamal so they can go to Savannah State this fall and praying their Pell Grants are not cut.
We just prayed over Sister Bernadette and thank God that she can finally get insurance for her youngest because she has diabetes and it was a struggle to find coverage for her.
We have been trying to get help for Sister Hazel and Bro. Fred to save the home they have lived in for 30 years.
I’ve been helping the children of late Bro. Alphonso Jenkins fill out their claim form – see Bro. Jenkins was a farmer and he died 8 years ago – had 70 acres down outside of Waycross and his children still remember his face whenever he attempted to get a loan before he eventually had to sell it for half its value to Cargill Corp.
You didn’t want to talk to me about the myriad of pressing issues that if not for this President, would have decimated the lives of nearly all my congregants but you need to talk to me about this?
