What a week!

Another week, another half-assed attempt to separate President Obama from African-americans.
Ebogan63, Monday Open Thread
GLH, every black folk I talk to is determined to reelect PBO. And that link is from GOPolitico, so you know the deal. And I call bullshit on this”:..One Democratic political operative who has closely observed the White House’s outreach to black voters questioned whether they have a true grasp of how deep the disappointment may be among African-Americans over Obama’s failure to enact the kind of progressive agenda they feel they were promised in 2008.
First, if this ‘Democratic Political Operative'(prob. a Clintonista) ain’t gonna come foward, their opinions don’t mean squat. Second, last NBC/WSJ poll had AA approval at 91% so where is this ‘disappointment’ ? Third, PBO never ran on an explicitly ‘progressive agenda’ and never promised that, so that is b.s. on it’s face.
I will ALWAYS take the word of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies when it comes to black folks, cuz that organization has been polling and doing studies on the black electorate FOR YEARS. Ain’t buying this CBC water-carrying crap.
Ya Betta Talk To Kelis, Cuz Your Milkshake Ain’t Thick Enough Obviously Comment of the Week
and she was a DUMB hoe at that!
I’m telling ya’ll Kim from RHOA need to write a book on hoe-dom to show dem triflin hoes how its done!
I’m not advocating hoedom and sleeping with other women’s husbands, but DAYUM Ginger! You still got evicted(numerous times) and had a 13 yr relationship with a freaking millionaire?
After 13 yrs all ginger got was a wet behind and the notoriety that she was that dumb, broke hoe.
I was talking to my father about this very thing the other day. Cain represents a very dated portrayal of the type of Black Repubs we got in the 70’s – the Thomas Sowells, Robert Woodson types that really had a problem with themselves and black folks in general. As much as I have a very visceral dislike for Black Republicans, I do agree with Town below that Condi, Colin never gave me the impression that they hated black folks. As far as the conclusion of the Root article goes: Black Republicans/Conservatives are gonna have to reconcile their views with the fact that Black people will not go for a philosophy that does not address issues of economic justice, which the
current GOP seems oblivious to.
Just ask David Bostis of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies about that.
If you are a true black conservative who loves black people but think there is a better way than the Democratic way, the Republican party is NOT for you. The Tea Party is NOT for you.
If you’re a black conservative who hates other black people, look down on them, think you’re somehow special and annointed and loved by white people because you’re not like the rest of us, then the Republican party is the perfect fit for you.
She is really a OWS Operative! She is going to take a job on Wall Street to get inside information to help OWS defeat the 1%. She will reluctantly take her salary and contribute to a 401K plan and probably advance in her career all the while waiting for her retirement so she can “mic check” the CEO.
Typical, it was a problem because she didn’t have a job, now that she has a job problem solved!!
This article actually pisses me off. She campaigned for him but believed he didn’t do anything for the middle class? So she just tuned out after he won or is she one of those people who if a bill doesn’t apply to her personally then it doesn’t count?
Dear Joan Walsh, Katha Pollitt, Katrina vanden Heuvel and Rebecca Traister: HAVE SOME PIE – Comments of the Week
They’re engaging in such a dumb argument, all in the name of dogging PBO for something, ANYthing. The fact that they have the nerve to act upset that CHILDREN whose bodies are still developing, and who in the case of pregnancy may very well have been sexually abused by someone older, don’t have the right and privilege to buy the morning after pill without any questions, investigations, or parent/guardian knowledge. How weird and illogical. Do they not understand the legal and biological and mental/emotional differences between adults and children or minors? Are they not concerned with protecting kids from sexual exploitation and possible medical side effects from misuse? I wonder how these same feminists reacted to the recent story about a company marketing crotchless underwear for tweens…
Miranda, when these Birkenstock Becky’s parrot bullshit like this : The point is, ALL women have restricted access to Plan B now. You have to wait in line to ask a pharmacist. When time matters.
Now, I have to wait in line at the pharmacy for my blood pressure medication, but I don’t conflate that with restricting my right to have my HBP under control. And while I am a male, I recognize there are some serious side effects to taking birth control meds for women, and these folks want young girls to be able to buy this stuff like it’s Juicy Fruit?. Why not advocate for more research into meds that do not have all of those serious side effects? Better sex ed for BOTH young men and women? But nooo, they would rather invent some bullshit poutrage about PBO cuz they are bitter PUMAS.
Good morning!
Personally I think this entire brouhaha is just more Obama hate, which these folks seem to relish and look for. I work with juvies and you would not believe how many misconceptions they have about sex, pregnancy, menstruation, STDS, abortion, etc. I don’t know about other places but most girls here can have OB/GYN treatment ….including access to birth control and condoms…. and this information is not disclosed to their parents…..yet look at the teenage pregnancy rates,, which probably doesn’t include the number of abortions many of these same girls have too. My daughter works in a local community health center and the stories she can tell……WOW. She talks about trying to give pap smears to girls that won’t even get off their cells during the exam…yet these silly ass women think that these same girls are knowledgeable and mature enough to handle these pills without adult supervision or oversight! Ridiculous.
My daughter is too old and it’s not a requirement in my state, but I am against those mandatory HPV vaccines also. The FDA can’t even keep bagged salad/lettuce safe for consumers…..we should trust them with the health of our girls…..BULLSHIT.
I really admire you guys and read this site everyday….my first online stop….even follow you on Twitter. I don’t speak out much because I am still a political novice but you guys are WARRIORS!!!!!!
The Plan B debate is not being restricted to grown woman, but CHILDREN. When it comes to reproductive issues and WOMEN, I am as liberal as they come. But young teen girls, that is a different story. Teens need to be educated about sex..absolutely. But in my opinion , medication like Plan B, birth control and others has a place in a teen’s life combined with an responsible adult influence PERIOD.
I am one of those people who does not take the FDA’s word as gossip…..Vioxx, hello? There have been too many recalls of medications that have been given the green light by the FDA ,only to kill people later. The effects of medications today are not being vetted thoroughly because of the special interest of pharma companies. And at this point if the effects of plan B has not been tested sufficiently in growing GIRL’S bodies, then we need to pause.
Hell, this week I just saw a headline that regular birth control pills need more caution and warnings due to increase of blood clots..FDA gave those a green light too, huh……..these usual white “feminists” need to take that outrage somewhere else.
