For the week November 13 – November 20
See, here at Pragmatic Obots Unite, we just can’t suffer fools. We just can’t. We can’t tolerate the bullshit. It hurts our eyes, our ears, gives us headaches. We’re allergic to it. Our stomachs get upset. So we have to call it as we see it. The comments this week, are true representations of our intolerance for the stupid.
Remember when Deborah Norville replaced Jane Pauley on The Today Show? The “feminists” damn near lost their minds driving Norville off the air. They went bonkers over the notion that the pretty young thing was kicking plain Jane to the curb (that’s how they portrayed it anyway)………where are they now?
“I went to journalism school and all I got was this stinking t-shirt..oh yeah, and a degree” Comment of the Week
White conservative racist muthasucka tells us that Herman ‘Cornbread’ Cain is the real “black”, not President Obama. That door was opened with a “good day suh!” from the step n fetchit minstrels of the sole patrol.
Ebogan63, Tuesday Open Thread, responding to The Grio column:
embedded in a wall at the International Civil Rights Museum which use to be Woolworths. She was arrested as a high school student during the sit-ins.
When A&T students went home for the summer GREENSBORO high schoolers took up the slack and a lot of them got arrested that summer. Can you IMAGINE what my grandparents went through having to go downtown to get their 16 yr old child out of JAIL during that time? This is personal to me and not a freaking game.
I know about the Greensboro Sit-ins, and #ows is not the sit in. I’m sure that most of those kids parents are not experiencing a sleepless nite worrying about their 16 yr child being in a racist jail because they wanted to be treated like a human being and an American.
It getting cold as hell out here and those OWS firebagger socks just are cutting it, so we are going to declare victory (for what?? who in the hell knows) go back to our condo’s, grab a shower then a latte and get ready for Thanksgiving Turkey at the family compound while waiting for the Christmas trust fund gift to be debited to the checking account.
Real Talk Time! OWS and the tea party are two sides of the same coin: anger and despair at the perceived loss of privilege and the fantasies that privilege provided them. For the lower and working-class tea party, it’s the loss of white privilege and the fantasy that whiteness automatically made you top dog. For the OWS “movement”, it’s about the loss of white middle-class economic privilege and the fantasy that poverty was for “those” people and no matter how you voted (if you ever voted at all) it wouldn’t touch you. I mean really, you must have some kind of privilege to believe that you and thousands of other people can set up camp in a *public area* in one of the world’s largest cities, protest financial institutions on a daily basis, obstruct the flow of business and commerce, and then be shocked, *shocked* when the notoriously corrupt and violent police force of that city starts cracking down on y’alls asses. Endless tears and outrage for middle class white kids getting hit by batons but when black, latino, native american, arab, and middle-eastern peeps are getting terrorized by the police on the daily, where are y’all? Nowhere to be found then. Much like economic disparity, police brutality is only a problem when it reaches them.
A while back, someone posted the comment describing OWS as “white America’s primal scream” at the current economic disparity and I think that’s the most accurate assessment I’ve heard. There’s no long term planning, no definable goals, no real structure in place because it’s not about actually changing things: it’s about throwing that white middle-class weight around and reminding people that you run shit and that you need to be bowed down to. They’re not mad that there’s a 1% ruling over the 99%, they’re mad that there’s a 1% ruling over 99% and they aren’t in the 1%.
“….Bloomberg’s case, someone who is seen as a liberal”
Bitch, that is where you start off wrong. See folks like Ehrenreich did not dare gnash their teeth and/or bitch and moan when Bloomberg changed his own position of once detesting the extension of term limits for politicians until it suited him and creating his own third term chances….adopting a anti-democratic move. Liberal my ass.
But let’s not stop there…just weeks ago, Bloomberg touted a talking point pushed by Republican airheads everywhere, that it was only Fannie and Freddie and Congress and not the banks that caused the mortgage crisis.
Yea, Bloomberg is real liberal……liberal to these dumb ass, one issue fauxgressives who thinks that standing tall on one issue (which is gay marrage in Bloomberg’s case) makes him an liberal extraordinaire. The same with these liberterians with a progressive mask on folks like Glenn Greewald and newfound progressives and anti-Wall Street bearers like Dylan Ratigan.
And yet, the President still gets the blame, even though there is article after article that Bloomberg along with the private owners of Zucotti Park admit fully to planning the raid themselves.
But that is never enough.
It is past the time for of “we’ve been on our shit since forever when the rest of y’all didn’t care” campaign for Black and Latino people everywhere. They are virtually shut out of OWS anyways, and situations have been bad for decades, hell centuries. All these whiny mofos like Ehrenreich are just waking up to inequality now……..bitch where have you been when over a million young Black and Latino men and women have been imprisoned over non-violent crimes steeped in racial disparity? Where have you been when it is a fact that Black/Latino parents all across this country have had to raise their children to know that they WILL be racially profiled and quite possi
bly a victim of false arrest, police brutality at some point in their life? Does she leave near a toxic, industrial wasteland, because if she is Black/Latino, it is a good chance that is the case. Don’t even mention the discrimination in the workplace and every other facet of society?
I’m tired of these so-called activist acting like they are so enlightened and principled now, while screaming “why won’t the President hold my hand, while proverbially slapping his hand back and criticizing him in the same breath. WTF
Buck the fuck up or SHUT UP!
Dear Mr. President: Will You Please Speak Up About Police Assaulting Protesters On College Campuses?
The article is purely on some Rachel Maddow-esque fake Oval office advice shit….this is what you need to do Mr. President.
This is the orchestrated new wave of angst against the President from the wanksta ass wannabe new movement. Anyone Black and Latino supporting this shit at this point needs to wake up…it is certified bullshit and a lust of victimization…yet for the last few decades and during the entire Bush administration when things were crumbling, you didn’t hear a peep from and see barely a rally from these folks.
1. OWS begins due to a Canadian entity Adbusters [bear in mind these same numb nuts wanted a teabag style disruption]. We had Naomi Klein of Canada telling us about the new “shock doctrine,” Cornell West telling us about the “great sell-out,” and a whole lot of folks convincing “us” of this great conspiracy. Bear in mind this “great economic conspiracy” has been at the very foundation of America – capitalism in whatever format it took whether in the agritarian format, slavery driven format, top 1% format, corporate format etc. It has always been there, the only difference is it affected a majority of the “others” not a specific group who have all of a sudden “found corporate capitalism” unbearable…
2. Bear in mind, the President had just introduced AJA which was taking the steam out of the GOP’s “no job creation to hurt Obama campaign”
3. So they OWS in New York, they had some form of manifesto including get this “President Obama’s Warren Buffet Rule and other legislations already enacted via the Financial Regulation” BUT oh they wanted more demands – destroy capitalism or something [Let me know when you figure out what the hell they wanted]
4. They began with their protest with no fanfare, then the orange glow say it… then the next leftist purity patrol co-opted it … you know the usual live blogging bloggers..
a. Moore — no opportunity ever wasted
b. Stewart
c. Huffington [ you know the usual suspects, you found them during the health care debates, deficit debate, every debate — they ARE EXPERTS IN EVERYTHING!!!!!!!]
5. Cantor says oh these are Obama’s henchmen.
6. Media questions Obama… Obama says its people exercising their frustration just like teaparty, why does the GOP have a problem with it. Obama says it’s their right. Just like teaparty neither endorses nor decries them, but says the same thing he always says, you can disagree without making the party a villain.
7. We get a quick rebuttal from “OWS” to tell us they don’t support either party as they are corrupt. Mind you, they are telling us this via their beautifully manufactured laptop from China [ok I am side tracking again, sorry]. They say they don’t support President Obama’s help or need any politicians help. Oh note, the process or it is “consensus” needed to be followed by some civil rights activist too.
8. OWS brings an effigy of President Obama to their rally.
9. Next, the local mayors who have to cover cost for the “cool urban camping to teach Wall Street about income disparity – COOL” said HELL NO! And the small business man said HELL NO! Enough! Oh bear in mind these “urban occupiers” kicked out folks who are homeless and stay in these parks for shelter.
10. SO Bloomberg kicks them out … we get WHERE IS OBAMA?
11. Hold up, you said you don’t need him right??
12. Oh it’s Obama’s fault.. .I don’t know how but it just is.. HE ORGANIZED THE FEDERAL SOMETHING TO SOMETHING LOCAL TO SOMETHING US…MOORE SAID IT AND SOME GUY ON THE EXAMINER SAID IT. [EDIT: NOTE HOW THEIR REACTION is the same as the TEAPARTY— OBAMA is the one who ruined their party] SAME SHIT different DAY.. Just look at that… think of that for a second.. the so called intellectual left could not make a case about breaking city ordinances and its consequences, these same fucks want to be compared to the civil rights but when things go wrong its the president’s fault– ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
So Van Jones for you to compare these half ass kids to civil rights is an insult. You may think I take it personally.. I do… I recall years ago asking for a living wage for Janitors, talking about impacts of outsourcing, wage disparity — but as a black female the words did not register to these numbnuts. It is just mind blowing how everything that go wrong in these people’s lives is someone else’s fault… WOW.. SAME REACTION AS TEABAGS…Just read Daily KOS.. read the comments there..
SO what have learned… privilege and hypocrisy is the name of the game. Oh by the way, VAN JONES FUCK YOU!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO GREEN ENERGY, I THOUGHT THAT WAS YOUR –ISH… OH right.. get that hustle on…
Get your hustle on…
fly off the handle every time he makes a stupid observation would simply stop watching him.
They give Matthews, Scarborough and others more influence and a bigger audience than they actually have. He’s going to keep doing what he does because that’s who he is. On top of that why stop when he knows the people who are most upset are going to be glued to the TV anytime he comes on? The surprise to me is Matthews does not go over the top even more. He probably laughs himself hoarse whenever he looks at his twitter page.
Update: Sharp eyed commentator Tien Le nails it
I don’t think it’s realistic to expect Chris Matthews to be fired from MSNBC. They renewed his contract in March 2009 for four years for about $5 million a year. He’s not going anywhere.
Applying pressure to MSNBC needs to be in the context of something that can actually be accomplished, not some fantasy of taking him off the air. He’s too savvy to quit (Olberman) and loves what he does. I think it is more realistic to work to educate those among us to stop watching him.
All the rage expressed here against him for every little thing he does and says hasn’t accomplished one damn thing. He’s worse now than ever. The best way to encourage people to look elsewhere for political commentary is to provide them with something better.
Better is out there, but as long as people feel the need to watch him then come here and express outrage, we will never succeed in promoting the quality. We did it with DKos, we can do it with Matthews. Has anyone noticed that people here hardly ever even mention DKos?
This after months of fury on this site, DKos is now a non-factor. We have the power to move Matthews into the dustbin of irrelevancy on this site–relegate him to the same status as Limbaugh who hardly ever gets mentioned here. The question is, Will we?
