For the week September 26 – October 1
Now….About Those Bedroom Slippers
Town:
Erry black person in America knows Maxine Waters is sitting around her house with some white ankle socks and some baby blue chewed up Dearfoams with a hole developing around the side. She sits in her chair with the socks, the slippers and a white nightgown underneath a pastel pink housecoat. She wraps her hair with a satin scarf and has her wig on a mannequin head on her dresser with pink and green Goody rollers to set the curl. She needs to stop acting like this ain’t how she rolls in her house because every black person in America knows they could bamm on her door and Maxine Waters would come to the door RIGHT NOW looking like Benita Buttrell with her baby blue chewed up Dearfoams and pastel pink housecoat.
MyraS:
Maxine Waters is like those shady ass old women on the Usher board that my Grandmama is hospitable to but on the low she gives her the side eye and won’t serve her out of her good cups when she stops by for a visit…the type that talks ish about how other peoples grandkids are bad, and hers are demons from hell, the kind that gives you the old candy at the bottom of her purse and expects you to run and give her a cup of water…the kind that talks about people who don’t have nice dishes but always burns her dishes and has the nerve to bring them to church for the Women’s day program… the type that’s always runnin around askin people how they like her cookin, and everyone is smilin but behind her back they are talkin real bad about her dry ass chicken…Girl Bye! GTFOHWTBS, I don’t own no bedroom slippers, heffa yes you do, they sky blue and dirty like your livin room carpet…Again Girl Bye!!!!
MyraS again!
See yah don’t get me started…but riddle me this…What black woman over the age of 45 does not own a pair of bedroom slippers? I’m 32 and I own a pair of bedroom slippers,my anger is about GP and the principality of her statement. My mama, my aunties, my grandma, her sisters and they cousins all have bedroom slippers. I got beat with a pair of bedroom slippers growin up for actin up in class. Now I love the skin I’m in and everything about being black, but how is she gonna get THAT BRAND NEW to say she doesn’t know what bedroom slippers are…that is an afront to my skin tone on so many levels, I have offically quit Maxine and the CBC…mark September 27th in the history books as the day I quit this bitch all the way… I do not understand how my people can be so against their own that they are gonna start talkin out the side of their necks publicly…Rant over, *fightin the urge to buy a pack of newport*!
Yeah….I just started it out with no warning! No heads up! It was that kind of week, straight no chaser comments!
I’m sorry we gays don’t all just quiet down and wait our turn for our inalienable rights like good little faggots.
Interesting that you say that, since obviously there was not enough pressure from the LGBT community to FORCE President Clinton to sign an executive order to end repeal DADT immediatley after he signed it SEVENTEEN years ago. Or not even the full SIX years of President Clinton’s term after he signed it into law. Funny how your asses stayed quiet for the better part of all these years but want to jump bad after you all all collectively stayed a quiet bunch for about a decade and a half.
So since you acknowledge that racism does exist in the LGBT community (we definitely see its ugly head reared again and again), then you must also acknowledge that as a whole, outside of a very few, it has been the LGBT community’s prerogative as well to board the second class citizen train and ride it quietly for the better part of the last 15 years and not put up a good fight
Funny how everyone (especially the typical, mostly white LGBT media stars) got energized and wanted to erect a “movement” all of a sudden when this President took office. But stayed silent for the better part of Clinton and Bush’s term. Evidently second class citizenry was not urgent enough then.
typical white privilege and posturing. Malcolm X warned about foxy white liberals!
Itgurl_29, on the continued whining of the Sole Patrol regarding PBO’s speech at the CBC Dinner, Monday Obot Link Review:
They are such bullies. Like you said, they have attacked this man from day one. They’ve questioned his race. They’ve questioned his love for the black community. They’ve called him stupid and naive. They’ve run to the media to undermine him. And then he raises his voice a little, tells them to quit complaining, and slaps the podium. And wht happens? These same kneegrows who, for the past three years, have been running around acting as hard as Nino Brown, turn into the bitch asses that they truly are. And they runteldat to their white massas and missies, crying and slobbering on massa and missy’s laps cause the Kenyan kicked their asses.
I swear, I cannot stand these people. But that just shows you the strength and the power of Barack Obama. He barely said anything and they started weeping and wailing talking ’bout “Big Daddy Clinton!! He hit me!!!” They are scared to death of the man.
“I didn’t come to this last year because I thought it would be too controversial,” he said.”
Which basically means he goes on a regular basis and only decided to skip last year. That’s understandable considering he was working undercover to siphon off dem support. And since he concentrated heavily on the PL it obviously worked.
Then he went home claiming to be (snicker giggle) surprised (snort chuckle guffaw) and actually having fun. What a surprise. Choi was having fun like he did the other 14 times he attended CPAC.
But now things are different. Republicans have a new attitude despite recent statements presidential debates, audience reaction and pending legislation to the contrary. Despite reality itself they (Choi) are really angry at The President but not one word about having fun with people who hate his lifestyle with an intensity only matched by five suns eight comets and a galaxy to be named later.
I give Choi credit. He found some pigeons and plucked every last feather off of them. The reason he’s having fun is because he gets a big laugh every time he tells the attendees how the PL fell for it.
Why does it have to be some competition with other groups? Are there no gay African Americans? I flatly reject the argument that Pres. Obama has not addressed the concerns of AA’s. We live in this country and any policy that he signs affects our communities. Waters, as a Rep. in Congress should be touting those benefits not creating division among Pres. Obama’s base. How ridiculous is it that Pres. Obama had to add the words “African American” and “black” to his speech at the CBC event to show that his policies have helped us? that should be obvious.
Waters, Tavis, West & Co. have done nothing to advance what they think is the black agenda. Nothing. Their tactics and rhetoric have been divisive and have made AA’s a tool with which Liberals, the MSM and Republicans can use to bash the President.
You call what they are doing an attempt to make Obama better? He is not their child. Pres. Obama has not asked for their guidance, he has asked for them to fight WITH him. Instead they start up another circular firing squad.
You know, for the Maxine Waters’ supporters, talking loudly about black people equals helping Black people. As Rev. Al Sharpton clearly pointed out, the same people who idolized Bill Clinton, despite his not so flattering record that resulted in the highest incarceration of young blacks, both male and female, are now out in force bashing President Obama, without proposing a specific plan that they want him to implement.
Who the hell appointed Maxine Waters, Cornel West, and Tavis Smiley to be the supreme arbiters as to who was and was not black enough? I suppose flying to Shangahi, China, to celebrate the brother, Dr., prophet, West’s birthday, was the supreme proof that Tavis Smiley and Cornel West were truly the most authentic black people.
In a column responding to Joan Walsh and Missy Joan’s claims of a friendship while she simultaneously dismissed Dr. Harris-Perry’s work – and for that response Dr. Harris-Perry MUST be recognized:
“Although I disagree with her, I have no problem with Walsh’s decision to take on the claims in my piece. I consider it a sign of respect to publicly engage those with whom you disagree. I was taken aback that Walsh emphasized the extent of our friendship. Walsh and I have been professionally friendly. We’ve eaten a few meals. I invited her to speak at Princeton and I introduced her to my literary agent. We are not friends. Friendship is a deep and lasting relationship based on shared sacrifice and joys. We are not intimates in that way. Watching Walsh deploy our professional familiarity as a shield against claims of her own bias is very troubling. In fact it is one of the very real barriers to true interracial friendship and intimacy.”
