For the week October 16 – October 22
Just to show that we Obots are not a bunch of secret agent provocateurs scurrying the net, ganging up on innocent morally upright victims and tweeting with reckless abandonment, not caring who we harm or disparage……….I present, our secret handshake….and extend a hand to all:
Meetings are every 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, 8pm…at the old gray house near the end of the road by the hollow tree. Whistle 3 times to the north, turn around counter clockwise and say your name backwards. Someone will emerge and at this point you will need to know the secret handshake – oh and bring a dish. We do potluck.
OK, now that this is cleared up, on to the comments!
Yeah We Got A Secret Handshake and We Stepping At The Next StepShow Too! Comments of the Week
Re ABL. A star is born. No wonder the haters troll her BJ posts like moths around a light bulb. She’s interrupting the Obama-hatementum – and winning.
ps – and if we needed any more proof that Greenwald is a libertarian, he’s spinning a new conspiracy theory. A libertarian specialty!
And with that, I’ll see you all in our underground bunker at the next Top Secret Obot Council meeting. Geographic coordinates of the location are encrypted in this message. Per usual, Koolaid is on the house.
Your Party is Batshyt Crazy Comment of the Week
MonieTalks, Wednesday Obot Link Review
I’m tripping out on how the MSM is shocked that the GOP acted like fools last night.
Ol David Gergen, who would rather pass a kidney stone than give the President props any day, has an article entitled : “Why GOP candidates should cool it” at CNN.
I find it hilarious that the media would expect different from people from a political party whose members actually look to scums Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck as de facto leaders
Or whose members of Congress yell out “You Lie!” while the President is speaking in a SOTU(and turn around and raise money off the lack of decorum).
Or that batshyt Michelle Bachmann at one time said she wanted the American people “armed and dangerous” against the President’s policies and an investigation of Congress for “unAmerican” members.
Hermain Cain “jokes” about killing immigrants at the border with an electric fence.
Or how Rand Paul supporters beat a WOMAN during the 2010 campaign.
And let’s not forget how angry John McCain was during the debates, he looked like his head would explode.
Or the nastiness, racism, and downright mob atmosphere at some of the Tea Party (included with gun-carrying “patriots”)
and now media wants to act like they are surprised when all these years you claimed these uncouth, unprofessional, lowdown republicans were “passionate” and concerned about their country….HA! This is the mess you’ve been making excuses for.
Erica, I appreciate you and GoBrooklyn’s attempts to engage these folks, but I was done with this from jump when I viewed Occupy Portland’s unfocused, rambling manifesto, which was very dismissive about voting, and naively believe that disengagement from the political process will yield results. I do believe that protest can be an effective tool, but it’s only effective when there are clearly stated achievable goals and strategy involved, beyond just being angry and occupying parks. From experience, I participated in alot of stuff like this in S.F during Reagan’s presidency in the ’80’s(sit-ins in the Financial Dist., holding up traffic, etc) and while it’s cathartic, in the long run, it just pisses potential allies off who are trying to get to work to support themselves and their families. To borrow from Eclecticbrother on the twitter, I’d like the focus of OWS be to ‘Reform Wall Street’ but to do that, you have to implement policies, and the only way of doing that is WINNING ELECTIONS, not tooling round in parks saying you’re pissed off. This lot seems to me, the same sort of rag-tag far leftists and fellow travelers that have made the same strategic mistakes for the last 40 years, and I’m not about to allow them to give the keys to the WH because of their simple assed nonsense.
I apologize for the long-windedness of my post, I just had to get a few things
off my chest.
MsKitty, President Obama: “Our Troops In Iraq Will Definitely Be Home For The Holidays”
It must be a tremendous blow to the ego that now and hundreds of years from now your only claim to fame will be that you were the loser in an election that resulted in the first Black President of the United States. It’s eating him up that “That One” is the most powerful man in the world, so the only way he can hold on to his manhood is constantly nip at PBO’s heels like an annoying little Chihuahua no matter how many times the President puts him in his place. The best part is he’s really coming off as bitter and pathetic to everyone outside the Beltway bubble.
Attention Whore Alerts Comments of the Week
“During the protests, West addressed fellow demonstrators over a megaphone and ensured them that King would approve of the demonstrations were he alive today. “
Really, motherfucker? The same Dr. King who was locked-down in a Jim-Crow era Birmingham, Alabama prison on trumped up charges? Who had to write the famous letter on toilet paper and have his lawyers smuggle it out? Who had to live with the fact that the police were waiting at every march and demonstration to set dogs, water hoses, and batons on everyone in sight (man, woman, or child)? You really think he’d approve of you intentionally setting out to have the police arrest you for the sake of attention in guise of an “homage” when all he had to do was exist? Forget MLK for a second, the average black persons in America’s life revolves around not getting fucked up by the police; do you think WE are impressed? Cornel, your empty-rhetoric, showboating ass can be summed up in two words:
Nigga, please!
The “great brother, prophet, doctor,” is so cynical. Simulating ones arrest is not the same thing as what Dr. King and other Civil Right workers had to endure. I wish the “great, brother, prophet, doctor,” would talk to Congressman John Lewis, who was constantly brutalized, about what it felt to be arrested more than forty times in his young life.
It is really sad to see this seemingly intelligent person be so consumed with jealousy and envy that he would do anything to try to upstage the President. I now know why envy was considered by Christians as one of the seven deadly sins. Here we have a distinguished Ivy League professor who is so envious of the President that he would do anything, including making a fool of himself, in order to try to undermine the President.
By the way, the “great brother, prophet, doctor,” may be impressing the holier than thou progressives, who hate President Obama, but I doubt that he has massive followers in the African American community. At least, I haven’t heard of a formation, in our community, of a “Free Dr. West” organization.
