OK, something TOTALLY different!
Remember during the mid to late 90s there were a slew of women (mostly white) on the pop charts with some of the most depressing music ever? Not all of it! Some was fun, but damn a lot of these songs you can only listen to if you going through it and it’s a problem your black friends don’t care about. It was white women’s call to unshaven underarms I guess – with some Tracy Chapman. (why do they think not shaving your underarms is some sign of independence? *shrugs*) Sarah McLachlan, formed the festival Lilith Fair during this time to showcase these artists. So this week, we’ll take a look back at this period: Jewel, Shawn Colvin, Paula Cole, Sheryl Crow, Tracy Chapman, Alanis Morrisette, Fiona Apple and more!
Jewel – Foolish Games
Sarah McLachlan – I Will Remember You
Ironic – Alanis Morrisette
Paula Cole – Where Have All The Cowboys Gone
