Good Morning POU! Anyone remember the sister group Perri??
Perri was a female R&B group consisting of the Perry Sisters: Carol, Darlene, Sharon, and Lori.
Back in the late 80s, a little heralded single about homelessness, filled with beautiful harmonies that belied the serious, sad nature of the song’s lyrical content, became one of the year’s best cuts and introduced much of the world to the group Perri. The four Perry sisters from Detroit, Lori, Carol, Darlene and Sharon, never made a large national splash other than as Anita Baker’s backing singers, but for those who found “No Place To Go” or their other music, there was a real treat.
In 1986, Perri released their debut album, “Celebrate” which managed to peak at #14 on Billboard’s Top Jazz Albums chart. In 1988, Perri released their second album, “The Flight” which peaked at #81 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart.
During that same year, Perri met Anita Baker through a fortunate meeting at a doctor’s office. Anita invited them to back her concert for a week in Los Angeles and then later invited them for a year-long tour.
In 1989, Perri appeared on the Spike Lee movie soundtrack “Do the Right Thing” with the track “Feel So Good” which managed to peak at #51 on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for 10 weeks.
