Dear Mr. President,
I was getting ready to embark on a new journey, start my adult life, and go to college. Then at seventeen I was involved in a tragic car accident. I was told I would never walk again. I realized I had a decision to make. I could either succumb to my injury or I could succeed in spite of my injury. Since then I’ve graduated from college magna cum laude and I was accepted into law school. Although my father did not attend college himself, he was a hard worker, he always told me: “Go get a good education because if you lose everything no one can ever take your knowledge or degree away from you.”
The steps you have taken to make college more affordable will ensure that families like mine will be able to send their children to college as well. I will always support you because middle class families like mine need to have a leader like you standing up for the issues that matter most.
Sincerely,
Tanisha Elliott
