Time To Show Some People Power And Donate To The Obama Campaign News: American Crossroads, the Republican “super” political committee that plans to play a major role in this year’s presidential campaign, raised more than $51 million along with its nonprofit arm last year, The Associated Press has learned. The figures from Crossroads — the group backed by former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove — were among the first financial reports being made public Tuesday, the deadline for super PACs and presidential candidates to file financial reports with federal election officials. I Hope Newt Stays In This Race For The Long Haul News: Florida’s nasty primary race didn’t get any nicer as the votes were being cast Tuesday: Mitt Romney said his chief rival, Newt Gingrich shouldn’t “whine” about being the target of negative campaigning, The Boston Globe reported. In a Tampa news conference, Romney said he had simply been fighting back against the barrage of negative attacks coming from Gingrich’s camp. “If you attack me, I’m not going to just sit back,” Romney told reporters. I Wonder How Many More Colleges Are Doing This, But Just Haven’t Been Caught Yet News: Claremont McKenna College, a liberal arts school near Los Angeles, said a college official had reported inaccurate SAT entrance exam statistics since 2005. The SAT scores for critical reading and/or math were generally inflated by an average of 10 to 20 points each year, according to a letter to the college community by Claremont McKenna President Pamela B. Gann. The school belongs to the group of seven schools known as the Claremont Colleges. Read more here.
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww News: McDonald’s says it will no longer use a particular additive in its hamburgers. The filler is made from beef trimmings that are treated with ammonium hydroxide to kill bacteria. The process is approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The additive has recently come under fire. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver campaigned against the use of the filler, which some food experts call pink slime. McDonald’s says the decision to stop using the additive due to a focus on food safety. Read more here.
