Good Morning POU!
This one is near and dear to my heart since my parents met at Alabama A&M! And per attendance, is now the largest of the HBCU football classics.
The Magic City Classic is an annual American football game featuring Alabama A&M; University and Alabama State University, two of Alabama’s most prominent historically black universities, played at Legion Field in Birmingham. The first game between the two schools was played in 1924. It has been an uninterrupted, annual tradition since 1945 and played at Legion Field in Birmingham since 1946.
The classic has become the highest attended Division I FCS (formerly Division I-AA) game in the nation and the largest event in Birmingham carrying a $24.3 million economic impact. The winner could potentially earn a spot in the SWAC Championship. Festivities surrounding the game include the Classic Kickoff, Magic City Classic Parade, Tailgate Party and the famed halftime show performed by the Mighty Marching Hornets and the Marching Maroon and White.
