Good Morning POU! This next era of films for the great Wesley Snipes is a great mix of action flicks.
Passenger 57 is a 1992 American action thriller film directed by Kevin Hooks. The film stars Wesley Snipes and Bruce Payne. Its success made Snipes a popular action hero icon. It also introduced Snipes’ famous line: “Always bet on black.”
Air travel is the safest, the FAA says. But the FAA never figured the risk with Charles Rane on board. “The Rane of Terror” has masterminded four terrorist attacks. Soon there will be a fifth — and that’s bad news for the passengers on Flight 163. But there’s good news too: the man in seat 57. Wesley Snipes plays John Cutter, an undercover security operative who enters the lavatory and exits to find Rane (Bruce Payne) and his gang have taken over. Cutter’s next move is clear. Do. Or be done to.
Next came Boiling Point, Rising Sun, Demolition Man and Drop Zone.
In Boiling Point, Red is an aging scam-artist who’s just been released from prison together with Ronnie, a young and not-so-bright hoodlum who is easily manipulated. Their new business is to organize fake-money sales and then kill the buyer to take his money; but when Ronnie kills an undercover secret service agent, his partner Jimmy Mercer, played by Snipes, vows revenge and is given one week to catch the killers before being transferred.
A personal favorite of mine, Rising Sun co-stars Sean Connery.
The plot for the story goes: At the offices of a Japanese corporation, during a party, a woman, who’s evidently a professional mistress, is found dead, apparently after some https://assaultvictimlawyer.com/buy-cialis/ rough sex. A police detective, Web Smith (played by Snipes) is called in to investigate, but before getting there, he gets a call from someone who instructs him to pick up John Connor, a former police Captain and expert on Japanese affairs. When they arrive there, Web thinks that everything is obvious, but Connor tells him that there’s a lot more going on.
In Drop Zone, a team of skydiving crooks led by DEA-agent-turned-bad Busey specialize in landing on police roofs and breaking in so their evil computer nerd can steal undercover agents’ files and sell them to drug lords. A Federal Marshal (played by Snipes) lost a brother to this crew and learns skydiving with the help of tough-but-lovable instructor Butler so he can track them down.
In Demolition Man, Snipes again played an iconic villain, Simon Phoenix.
Frozen in 1996, Simon Phoenix, a convicted crime lord, is revived for a parole hearing well into the 21st century. Revived into a society free from crime, Phoenix resumes his murderous rampage, and no one can stop him. John Spartan, the police officer who captured Phoenix in 1996, (played by Sylvester Stallone) has also been cryogenically frozen, this time for a crime he did not commit. In 2032, the former cities of Los Angeles, San Diego and Santa Barbara have merged into peaceful, utopian San Angeles. Unable to stop him with their non-violent solutions, the police release Spartan to help recapture Phoenix. Now after 36 years, Spartan has to adapt himself to the future society he has no knowledge about.
